Brian Leidal
Licensed Professional Counselor
Brian Leidal (He/Him) is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and has been licensed since 2016. He has practiced across the United States and has previous experience working in both outpatient and inpatient settings, including five years in wilderness therapy. Brian graduated with a Master's Degree in Community Counseling with a specialization in Addiction Counseling from Slippery Rock University in 2014. He was born in Michigan and lived in the state until he received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University. He is excited to now offer his skills as a counselor to the people of the state in which he was raised.
Brian specializes in the treatment of addiction and trauma, and also works with couples. He has received advanced training in Post-Traumatic Growth and Somatic Therapy utilizes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with clients in individual therapy. He helps clients understand how the brain and nervous system functions so that they may feel a greater degree of empowerment and increase their resilience. In his addiction work, Brian assists clients in increasing their impulse control and reducing cravings. He utilizes Motivational Interviewing to assist clients in identifying the changes they wish to make and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients map a relapse awareness plan. Brian has completed both Gottman level 1 and level 2 trainings and utilizes that material when working with couples.
Brian enjoys helping people achieve their goals while feeling more grounded in their daily lives and in their relationships. He believes that we all have the capacity to change, it just takes the right tools and support to do so. Brian brings a healthy dose of humor to his sessions as well as a balance of kindness and firmness, depending on what is called for.
